Summer Sounds at Strawberry Field

June - September. Summer Sounds. Strawberry Field. Free events on all summer!
15th May, 2024

This summer we're bringing you a packed programme of music from the bandstand, with free family-fun events happening every weekend!

Continuing John Lennon’s legacy, Summer Sounds is inspired by the nostalgic echoes of his childhood summers, where Salvation Army bands played at summer fetes in the famous gardens. You're invited to bring your families and friends to relive these moments by pulling up your deckchairs and immersing yourself in a summer-long celebration of music at our iconic Strawberry Field Forever bandstand.

We've collaborated with Talentbanq who are bringing Black Deer Festival, Caffé Nero Presents and London and Liverpool Rising to Liverpool for the first time. Kicking things off on Sunday 2nd June, Black Deer Live will showcase the best of the Americana genre on our bandstand with local band Motel Sundown and London-based, US raised Katy Hurt. Get your tickets here.

Liverpool Walton Salvation Army Band on the Strawberry Field bandstand

With free events taking place every weekend throughout the summer, the bandstand will play host to some of the north west's best brass bands, including the Liverpool Walton Salvation Army Brass Band. The band regularly played at Strawberry Field in the days when John Lennon would visit as a child.

Alongside the famous brass bands will be a selection of string quartets and choirs. We'll see Hope Street Harmonies, an all-female a acapella choir with a diverse repertoire, Penny Lane Jazz, a local quartet delivering a dynamic yet charming mixture of swing and latin, and Liverpool Harmonic Gospel Choir, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year.

In addition to our full line up of free music, we're hosting a Craft Fair on Saturday 6th June, showcasing some fantastic, local traders. There will be plenty of family fun, with our 'Get Back to Play' days happening every Tuesday throughout the summer holidays, offering traditional play and craft sessions. You can also immerse yourself in our visitor exhibition to learn the history of Strawberry Field and why John Lennon felt such a connection to this special place.
