As our 5 year anniversary approaches, we invited some of our Steps to Work alumni for an outdoor adventure day at Crosby Hall Educational Trust.

Graduates from the last 5 years came together for a day of rock climbing, archery and orienteering. Many of them had not seen each other since their graduations and some were meeting for the first time, so it was a fantastic opportunity for them to get to know each other and reconnect.

We were thrilled to hear how things have progressed for the former trainees since their time at Strawberry Field. Many are now in paid employment or education and some have even started their own businesses. We also heard of personal developments, like newly passed driving tests and budding romantic relationships.

Since we launched Steps at Strawberry Field, we have had 132 young people complete our Steps to Work programme. 40% are now in paid employment, while 6% are in education and 12% do voluntary work. This is a fantastic result and a testament to the incredible talent on the programme.

Thank you to the team at Crosby Hall Educational Trust for such an amazing day, and thank you to our Steps alumni for helping us celebrate 5 years of Steps at Strawberry Field!

“The plan to open Strawberry Field to the public for the first time - so people can see a unique exhibition about the home, how and why the song was written by John, and allow visitors to explore the grounds as John did as a child - is very exciting.”
