Our Steps to Work programme combines two days of education with two days of work placement a week. The work placements will include the visitor experience at Strawberry Field in areas such as hospitality, retail, catering, heritage, customer service and horticulture. The Salvation Army is collaborating with The City of Liverpool College to help deliver the programme as well as Liverpool and Merseyside businesses to sponsor trainees and potentially offer them jobs at the end of their training. A range of social activities including music, drama, art, craft and computer games are also on offer, all designed to help build and maintain friendships and support their families.
Training and Employment
A world of incredible opportunities
Strawberry Field will offer young people training and employment through its Steps to Work programme. The programme will include teaching basic skills such as literacy, numeracy and IT, as well as life skills such as independent travel, teamwork and communication. Trainees will have the choice of studying a recognised vocational qualification that interests them and which employers value.
Strawberry Field will help trainees to find meaningful employment and volunteering opportunities but also encourage them to develop their interests and skills, recognising their creativity, building their confidence and helping them to live more independent lives.
