The City of Liverpool College
The City of Liverpool College is a leading college in the Liverpool area offering over 500 academic and vocational courses, and teaching more than a third of all 16-18 year olds in Liverpool to equip them with the skills and experience to successfully move from education into work.
The College has many connections across private, public and voluntary sectors making it the perfect partner to deliver our Steps to Work programme. With its links to businesses across the Liverpool area, specialism in vocational education, and knowledge of employers’ needs, The City of Liverpool College can provide young people with learning disabilities a programme designed specifically to their needs in order to move into employment or volunteering.
The collaboration between The City of Liverpool College and Strawberry Field provides young people with learning disabilities a four-day week split between education and work placements. Each trainee will have the opportunity to work in a range of sectors from hospitality, retail, customer service and catering. A trainee who completes the educational stage of Steps to Work will become a graduate of The City of Liverpool College and of the Strawberry Field centre.
With expertise provided by The City of Liverpool College, Steps to Work will empower young people with learning difficulties to overcome the obstacles they may face when finding employment and lead towards a life of independence and success.
